Our CNC Machining Capabilities

We operate almost every kind of CNC mill and turning center, and pride ourselves on being able to machine whatever you need, from simple, ‘as-machined’ work holdings to complex, organic geometries with tight tolerances. On request, we can also produce parts with EDM and grinders. Build envelopes, minimum feature sizes and design guidelines vary for milling and turning.

CNC Machining
3 & 5 axis CNC Milling

We have over 30 milling machines, including standard 3-axis mills, indexed 3+2-axis mills & fully-continuous 5-axis mills.

  • Tolerances from ±0.017mm (0.0007 in)

  • Lead times from 5 business days

CNC Machining
CNC Turning

We have over 3 turning machines, including Swiss lathes and multi-axis mill turns.

  • Tolerances from ±0.01mm (0.0004 in)

  • Lead times from 5 business days

CNC Machining Materials

We can generate instant machining quotes for 50+ metals and plastics.

Aluminum

Aluminum alloys have good strength-to-weight ratio, high thermal and electrical conductivity, low density and natural corrosion resistance. Can be anodized.

CNC Machining Surface Finishes
CNC Machining

As machined (Ra 3.2μm / Ra 126μin)

As printed MJF parts are typically gray in color and have a smooth surface, without visible layers, and a powder texture.

CNC Machining

Smooth machining (Ra 1.6μm / Ra 63μin)

Smooth machining is like an ‘As machined’ finish but with slightly less evident machine marks. Parts are machined at a lower feed, no hand polishing is applied.

CNC Machining

Fine machining (Ra 0.8μm / Ra 32μin)

Finer-looking machining obtained either through higher-precision machines, lower feeds, sharper tools, or a combination of all the above. Machining marks are less evident.

CNC Machining

Polishing (Ra 0.8μm / Ra 32μin)

Parts are manually polished in multiple directions. Surface is smooth and slightly reflective.

CNC Machining

Electroless Nickel Plating

Parts are machined to Ra1.6µm and electroless nickel plated. Ideal for wear abrasion and corrosion resistance, not for cosmetic purposes.

CNC Machining

Bead Blasted + Anodized type II (Glossy)

Parts are bead blasted, anodized type II and bright dipped. Results in glossy color. Ideal for cosmetic parts needing an increase in corrosion resistance.

CNC Machining

As machined + Anodized type II

Parts are anodized (type II) directly after machining. The most cost-effective anodizing option; ideal for non-cosmetic, functional parts. Used to improve wear and corrosion resistance.

CNC Machining

Chromate Conversion Coating

Parts are machined and a chromate conversion coating is applied. Ideal to increase the corrosion resistance of the part while maintaining its conductive properties. RoHS compliant.

CNC Machining

Bead blasted + Anodized type II (Matte)

Parts are bead blasted and anodized type II. Ideal for increasing the corrosion resistance of the part. Results in naturally matte colors. For glossy colors, please select the bead blasted + glossy anodizing option.

CNC Machining

Bead blasted

Parts are bead blasted with glass beads which results in a grainy texture and reduced machining marks.

CNC Machining

Brushed + Electropolished (Ra 0.8μm / Ra 32μin)

Parts are brushed and electropolished. Ideal to reduce the micro-roughness of the part.

CNC Machining

Black oxide

Applicable on steels, black oxide is a conversion coating used to improve corrosion resistance and minimize light reflection.
